WOODLAND, CA – 1 Killed, 5 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-15 Near Hwy 113
WOODLAND, CA (December 22, 2021) – One person was killed, and five others were injured, including 2 children, in a multi-vehicle chain-reaction collision on Wednesday night.
The chain reaction crash started with a stalled big rig that was slowing traffic on the I-5, near the Highway 113 interchange. A Ford Expedition, towing a trailer, then rear-ended a Volkswagen that was stopped due to the traffic.
The Volkswagen was then pushed into a third vehicle. The driver of the Volkswagen was killed.
Five people in total were injured, including a 1-year-old and 8-year old in the Expedition, who sustained minor injuries.
CHP stated that rain in the area created slick roads and may have been in a factor in the fatal three-car crash.
