SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – David Alan Schulte Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on Highway 46

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (January 31st, 2022) – David Alan Schulte, a 60-year-old man from Exeter, was killed Monday in a crash on Highway 46. 

The fatal crash happened around 12 p.m. and involved 4 vehicles total. 3 others were injured, one seriously. 

California Highway Patrol stated that the driver of a GMC Yukon, Jose T. Morales, suddenly swerved into opposing traffic and struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee. He then went on to hit another vehicle head on, causing the Dodge to crash into a nearby fence. 

A fourth vehicle, a Toyota, attempted to avoid the accident by swerving, but crashed into the fence as a result.

Morales was arrested at the scene on suspicion of DUI. Schulte, the driver of the Dodge, passed away from his injuries.
