How To Join The Zimmer Biomet Knee Replacement Recall Lawsuit
Please note we are no longer accepting new cases for this lawsuit.
Zimmer Biomet is one of the largest medical device manufacturers in the world. It was founded in 1927 and produces a large array of orthopedics products, such as knee, hip, shoulder, foot and ankle prostheses, among others. When undergoing any sort of hip, shoulder or knee replacement, for example, many people have Zimmer Biomet products installed.
In recent years, however, Zimmer Biomet has issued several recalls for some of its products, especially knee replacement parts. The most recent recall was issued on December 6, 2022 and involved all NexGen Complete Knee Solution Stemmed Non Augmentable Option Tibial Components and Vanguard Knee System PS Open Box Femoral. If you had one of these components installed, you may have received a letter directly informing you of the recall.
Even if you did not receive notice, however, you may still be entitled to compensation for a faulty knee replacement, so it is wise to speak with a product liability attorney who can start investigating right away if your device was part of a recall.
What Are The Complications Of A Zimmer Faulty Knee Replacement?
Some of the injuries and complications that have been seen in those who have received a recalled knee replacement include:
- Joint pain
- Swelling
- Infections
- Nerve damage
- Bone grinding, fracture, or loss
- Difficulty walking
- Difficulty standing
- Needing another knee replacement
You may have additional complaints related to your knee replacement outside of this list. These injuries and complications may be due to the following issues with the knee replacement prosthetic:
- Corrosion
- Loosening of the components
- Dislocation
- Wear and tear
- Misalignment
Many patients have had to receive a revision surgery or another total knee replacement within just a couple years of receiving the original surgery to install the recalled knee replacement device. This is highly unusual and a sign of a faulty knee replacement product.
What Expenses Are Included In A Zimmer Knee Replacement Settlement?
If you’ve been injured and are in pain after having a recalled Zimmer knee replacement installed, you may be able to get a settlement from Zimmer Biomet to reimburse you for some or all of the following costs:
- Medical bills
- Loss of wages
- Future loss of earnings
- Pain and suffering
When it comes to knee replacements, medical bills can add up quickly and be rather hefty, even with health insurance. It certainly doesn’t help that you may require additional surgeries, such as a revision surgery or another total knee replacement to fix or remove the recalled components, which can set your total higher. Thus, it is worthwhile to speak with a knee replacement attorney to determine if you are eligible for a settlement to help reimburse you for those costs, which are no fault of your own.
If your complications are really severe, you may have had to miss time from work and have lost wages due to the recalled knee replacement. Lost wages, as well as any future loss of earnings (if you cannot return to work), and pain and suffering, can be factored into your settlement.
